2018 Techne Music Festival
Since the founding of Techne Music, the focus has been on small ensemble groups. This year, we are focusing on a large chamber group: The String Orchestra. To keep in the chamber music spirit, we will be performing Mendelsohn's String Symphony No. 10, and the enchanting Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla. The orchestra will be lead by the Techne Faculty, and without conductor. Peter Winograd, first violinist of the American String Quartet, will be the soloist in the Piazzolla. Both Mr. Winograd and the Techne faculty will give masterclasses throughout the festival.
In addition, the Techne Music Festival will be holding a concerto competition for Techne students on the first day of the festival. The winner will perform a solo with the Techne Orchestra on the final concert. See Auditions for the Concerto Competition repertoire and guidelines.
